Music for the Soul

Harrow Community Gospel Choir (HCGC) is a performing choir singing a mixture of  contemporary gospel songs and spirituals.  The choir is directed by CeCelia Wickham-Anderson a member of the internationally acclaimed acapella group Black Voices, http://blackvoices.co.uk. Cecelia has led many successful choirs over the years.

The choir has been going since May 2013, and was initially formed to be part of the ‘Now is the Time – Let Freedom Ring’ performance at the Harrow Arts Center in November 2013. This was a special piece composed by Denys Baptist to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Martin Luther King speech.  It was performed in conjunction with Tomorrow’s Warriors and part of the London Jazz Festival.

Performance opportunities include an annual concert; community Choir Festivals most notably in Stratford-upon-Avon; community events in the park; parties, weddings; church services etc. The choir has taken part in the Voices Now choral event at the Camden Roundhouse and preformed in the Kings Place foyer, also in Camden. Each year on invitation, the choir commemorate Windrush Day by performing at the Harrow Art Centre and other locations. A memorable event was the mini tour of Holland, when the choir had the opportunity to see the sights and sing with other choirs.

Rehearsals are held weekly on a Wednesday, 18:30, October to April at the Harrow Arts Centre, 171 Uxbridge Rd, Pinner, HA5 4EA and May to September at the Green Pavilion in Harrow Recreation Ground, HA1 1PB.  Parking is free at both venues.  For more information please   Get in touch!
