HCGC were willing participants in the Voices for Hospices Concert held in the William Burges designed Speech Room at Harrow School. The Speech Room was built in 1871 and is the main assembly hall for the School. It is also the location in which Winston Churchill delivered his famous ‘Never Give In’ speech on 29 October 1941.

We were a small contingent of HCGC who took part in this biennial fundraising event. Though few in number, we were not deterred by the size of the other seven choirs.
Led by Sue McCall, we produced a euphonious, heartwarming A Cappella rendition of ‘Come By Here’ with one of our alto ladies courageously singing the bass part, followed by ‘Vuma’.
The audience showed their appreciation with rapturous applause. Some were moved to verbalise their pleasure to individual choir members as we made our way back to our seats.
It was a rewarding and memorable occasion and I am extremely happy to have had the opportunity to take part.
